Born in Moline, Illinois, Jay grew up in Rockford, Illinois. Graduating from Guilford High School in 1986, Jay attended Rock Valley College, Rockford, Illinois, Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated in 1992 from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Wheeling, Illinois.

Jay has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1993 and is licensed to practice in both Wisconsin and Illinois. Prior to moving to Beloit Jay was General Mangager of a multi-location funeral business in Illinois.

In the past Jay has been active in various civic and fraternal organizations such as; Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, National Exchange Club, and Masonic Lodge. Jay has further donated his time by serving on the Advisory Board at North Hill Retirement Community in East Moline, Illinois and lecturing for the Illinois Quad-City Chamber of Commerse.

Jay has been married to Kelly since January of 1995. Away from the business he spends most of his time boating, snowmobiling or riding ATV's with Kelly and their two children; Connor and Jyllian.

Kelly was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois and graduated from West High School in 1986. Prior to moving to Beloit, Kelly lived in Rock Island, Illinois from 1995-2007, working in the Oncology and Pulmonary Departmernt at Medical Arts & Associates in Moline, Illinois for the past eight years.

2007 represents a change of life for Kelly aside from helping in the office at the funeral home, running errands, and volunteering at various school and community activities, Kelly plans spending the majority of her time as full-time mom to Connor and Jyllian. However, in January 2007 Kelly became a part-time advisor for lia sophia jewelry and is loving every minute of it. Robert "Bob" Hansen

Former Owner

May of 2007 marked a new begining for Bob. After dedicating more that 42 years to serving the funeral needs of Beloit and surrounding communities Bob retired from the full-time activities of 'life as a funeral director' by selling Hansen Funeral Home to Jay and Kelly.

Bob will however, continue to work ocassionally for the funeral home by assisting on funeral services, helping pre-plan funerals, and acting as funeral director when Jay is either unavailable or spending time with his family.



Jerry Hansen

Funeral Assistant

Jerry was the younger brother of the former owner, Bob Hansen. He unexspectedly passed away on August 5, 2009. Jerry had been involved with the funeral home for more than forty-five years, assisting with visitaions, funeral services, and other day-to-day work around the funeral home. Jerry's death is a great loss to those who worked with him, and knew him.



Joe Swanson

Funeral Assistant

Joe has been working at the funeral for many years, driving on funerals, helping during times of death, and doing various jobs around the funeral home. People around the community have known Joe for manys years and have relied on his thoughtful assistance during a most difficult time and greatfully appreciate all his efforts.
