Life Legacy
Evelyn L. Herkis, 96, of Beloit, Wisconsin, died, Friday, June 18, 2010 at Premier Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing in Beloit.
The former Evelyn Lucille Everson was born on October 2, 1913 in Beloit, Wisconsin, the daughter of Robert and Ida (Rush) Everson. She married John Gray Herkis on October 5, 1940 in Beloit. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1976. Evelyn was a life long resident of Beloit. She was employed at the Beloit Daily News for over twenty-five years. She also had been employed at the Beloit Municipal Building, Beloit College, and Vance Printing. Evelyn was a long time member at Atonement Lutheran Church in Beloit, the Beloit Daily News Quarter Century Club, and the 500 Card Club. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family.
Preceded in death by her sister, Ava Wheat, two brothers, Roy Everson, and John Everson.
Funeral are 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at Atonement Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Committal will take place in Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit. Hansen-Gravitt Funeral Home in Beloit is honored to be assisting the family.
