Life Legacy


Alice J. Petitt, 90, of Beloit, Wisconsin, died, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Heritage Woods Assisted Living in DeKalb, Illinois.

The former Alice Jane Yaeger was born on January 8, 1922 in Hartford, Wisconsin, the daughter of Ernest and Ella (Herm) Yaeger. She married Dale Petitt on October 1, 1954 in Rockford, Illinois. Alice was a telephone operator for 25 years at Wisconsin Bell in Beloit. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Janesville, Wisconsin, and the Sand Castle Senior Center in South Beloit, Illinois. Alice enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, crocheting, and playing Euchre, 500, and Kings Corners

The family would like to thank the staff at DeKalb County Hospice, and Heritage Woods Assisted Living, both in DeKalb for the love and care given to Alice and her family.

Alice is survived by her husband, Dale of DeKalb, IL, two sons, Michael (Mary) Petit of Lindenhurst, IL, and Neal Martin of Madison, WI, a daughter, Vicke (Denny) Heins of Malta, IL, five grandchildren, Tim (Marla) Petit, Shawn (Dee) Petit, Shelly Petit-Baum, Tony Petit, and Molly Heins, and four great-grandchildren, Holly (Eric) Schaefer, Gary Petit, Nicholas Baum, and Natalee Baum.

Graveside services are 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 at Eastlawn Cemetery in Beloit. Family and friends will gather at the frontgate of the cemetery and will process to the gravesite together.
